Instrument Details and Guidelines

1. Seebeck Coefficient & Electric Resistance Measurement System

General Instructions

  • Simultaneously measures the Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity of the sample.
  • Maximum 3 samples allowed per faculty/student/R&D user in 15 days.
  • Sample types:
    • Rectangular pellets (15 mm × 4 mm × 2 mm)
    • Thin films (15 mm × 4 mm)
    • Fabrics (15 mm × 4 mm)
  • Temperature range: RT – 480 °C
  • Resistance should not exceed 1000 KΩ
  • Measurement atmosphere: Low-pressure Helium gas
  • Attach TG-DTA results while submitting samples (MANDATORY).
  • Provide clear temperature and sample details at booking (MANDATORY).
2. Laser Flash Analyzer (Thermal Diffusivity & Thermal Conductivity)

General Instructions

  • Measures thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity.
  • Maximum 3 samples allowed per faculty/student/R&D user in 15 days.
  • Samples must be circular pellets (Ø 12.7 mm, thickness 2.5 mm).
  • Surface should be smooth and crack-free.
  • Temperature range: RT – 600 °C
  • Attach TG-DTA results (MANDATORY).
  • Provide temperature and sample details at booking (MANDATORY).
3. Power Generation Efficiency Characteristics Evaluation System

General Instructions

  • Evaluates power conversion efficiency of thermoelectric modules.
  • Maximum 2 modules allowed per user in 15 days.
  • Module size: 40 mm × 40 mm
  • Maximum temperature difference: 500 °C
  • Measurement atmosphere: Helium gas
  • Attach TG-DTA results (MANDATORY).
4. UV–Visible Spectrophotometer

General Instructions

  • Records absorbance, reflectance and transmittance spectra.
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Measurement range: 200 – 800 nm
  • Samples: powders or liquid dispersions.
  • Bring pure solvent (minimum 10 ml) for reference.
  • Minimum liquid sample volume: 5 ml
5. Photoluminescence – Spectrofluorometer

General Instructions

  • Measures room-temperature emission and excitation spectra.
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Excitation/emission range: 200 – 500 nm (Mandatory).
  • Samples: powders or liquid dispersions.
  • Minimum liquid sample volume: 5 ml
6. BET – Surface Area & Pore Size Analyzer

General Instructions

  • Records nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms at 77 K.
  • Maximum 2 samples per user in 30 days.
  • Samples must be dry powders (minimum 200 mg).
  • Avoid moisture, solvents or volatile residues.
  • Provide complete sample details at booking (MANDATORY).
7. Electrochemical Workstation

General Instructions

  • Maximum 4 continuous slots per month.
  • Bring reference, counter and working electrodes, electrolyte and cell.
  • Mention technique required (CV, GCD, EIS, LSV, etc.).
  • Films must be adherent and crack-free.
  • Use freshly prepared electrolytes only.
8. High Temperature Furnace (Max 1000 °C)
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Maximum 4 samples per slot.
  • User must bring crucibles.
  • Explosive or hazardous samples are NOT allowed.
9. Muffle Furnace (Max 500 °C)
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Maximum 4 samples per slot.
  • User must bring crucibles.
  • Volatile or corrosive samples are NOT permitted.
10. Tubular Furnace – N₂ Controlled (Max 700 °C)
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Maximum 2 samples per slot.
  • User must bring quartz tube and crucibles.
  • Atmosphere: N₂ gas.
11. Hot-Press Densification (Max 800 °C)
  • Maximum 1 sample per slot.
  • Maximum pressure: 10 kg/cm².
  • User must bring graphite die set.
  • Specify temperature, pressure and time (MANDATORY).
12. Spray Pyrolysis Unit
  • Maximum 2 slots per user in 15 days.
  • Substrate size: up to 5 cm × 5 cm.
  • Substrate temperature: RT – 400 °C.
  • Carrier gas: compressed air.
  • Provide temperature, pressure and flow rate details (MANDATORY).
